A police chase on Interstate 84 in Newtown ended with a crash.
An overnight fire ripped though an East Berlin home. Around 1:30 a.m., multiple calls came in reporting the fire at 54 Sun Meadow Drive. About 50-60 firefighters were called in, including mutual aid. When crews arrived, they found three people outside of the home. They were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Woman identified in Groton untimely death
A fire in Middletown killed one person, and left two firefighters injured. The fire broke out around 12:45 a.m. Monday at 8 Millbrook Road. When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke, but the fire was put out fairly quick.
Police are investigating an untimely death from Friday morning that happened at a Ramada Inn. At 7:24 a.m. police responded to the Inn on calls of a person not breathing. Officers and EMS found the woman and was declared dead at the scene by EMS workers.

A man is in police custody following an alleged robbery at local Dunkin’ Donuts early Saturday morning. Around 6:15 a.m., State Troopers responded to a call of a robbery at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 6. A store employee told police that Wayne Squier, 35, entered the store and selected some items.
The Duxbury man accused of impersonating a federal agent and stockpiling weapons is facing new charges. Police in Connecticut arrested Christopher Barlow this week.
