Police in Colchester said they arrested a suspect who implied a high school in town would be the target of an active shooter. Nicholas Burtis, 18, was taken into custody on Tuesday through an arrest warrant. The threat was posted on the social media app Instagram and referenced Bacon Academy, according to police.

A Bridgeport man is accused of stabbing his teenage niece to death at an apartment on Fairfield Avenue Monday night. Police said the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Richard Segabiro, called 911 around 10 p.m. and said he had killed his 16-year-old daughter. Police responded to his apartment at 2292 Fairfield Avenue and found Segabiro covered in flood and his niece, who he raised as his daughter, dead in the bathroom. She had multiple stab wounds, police said.

Hartford Hospital officials said a car hit the emergency department entrance on Monday evening. It happened around 7:40 p.m. The crash caused minor damage to the building, officials said, and no injuries were reported. Police are investigating what happened.

According to police, Mark Febres, 22, went to his ex-girlfriend's home and attacked her, stabbing her several times. Police believe children in the home may have seen the incident.

Police have charged three men for a violent home invasion that happened last fall. At 1:00 am on November 23, 2017 police responded to a 9-1-1 call from 7 Midwood Drive. The caller said several people had broken into the residence and viciously assaulted one of the occupants. Officers found a male victim suffering from numerous stab and slash wounds.
